X221 rims-OK for XC?.........
Ordered a wheelset with Mavic X221 rims (seemed like a good deal)-I'm going to ride them anyway, but I've seen some not so great reviews about durability. I'm a light (155 lb.), mainly xc rider, no big drops, only the occasional log crossing and rock garden. Anyone have firsthand knowledge about the durability of these?

I run 32 hole no-eyelet x221's on my rig as my primary wheels. They've been great. They need very minor truing at about every other quarterly maintenence routine--when I do my tune-ups/hub overhauls (yes every quarter, I live in the midst of sand). I ride light aggressive XC with small drops, little jumps, logs and roots, I'm a Clydesdale and they've worked fine. The front came with the bike, the rear is a replacement I built up because I tacoed the original by backing it into a tree while my rig was on the trunk rack 
Anyway, the quality will be as much in the building as in the rim itself, if not more so. I've also got a set of Mavic 230's as my backups.

I put something like 5,000 miles in about 6 months commuting & trailling on a set of 221 hoops but i just think all Mavic wheels must die! including those stupid crossmax things..heh. I am not a fan of Mavic.
But you have to be sure you have the proper spoke count designed for the hoop

So you're inferring there is no better or worse hoops?
If you are refering to staying true as long as other cross country hoops you are incorrect
In my opinion Velocity hoops are far superior to mavics.
