Video - Deliverance (what a flow-tastic trail!)

This is the best trail I have had the pleasure to ride. It flows so, so well. It's a really well edited video too. Click the link to the video - it's worth it.

Nice trail. I would like to check that out those mountains, why were the riders going so slow?

They have all that beautiful land, and no one lives there. Less than 1 million people on the South Island. You can have a helicopter take you to the top of a mountain, and ride down for about 2 hours. Even better, you can do it winter time, in the snow. New Zealand is a mountain biker's dream. Because they rely so much on tourism, there's a lot of great riding there.

By the way, what happened to your other avatar?

They are going reasonably quick for that trail. The video doesn't show how steep it is, and all of the roots and rocks are hidden under the leafy mulch on the ground. The track is also pretty narrow.

The trail is in Wellington, New Zealand. A 10 minute drive/30min ride from the city center.

North Island, lots of good riding there too, and warmer. If you choose to ride around Rotorua, you can spend the night at an inexpensive motel with hot mineral springs. If you've got the coin, make the trip. And Kiwi women are lovely.

There's more sheep than people in NZ. No one has to be lonely on a Friday night.

That trail looks like a lot of fun. Doesn't really push the capabilities of those bikes though. I'd definitely ride it on my hardtail. The occasional perspective of the fork cam was pretty cool, too.
