XT disk brake question
Hi, I just bought a pair of M755 XT brakes from the States second hand, and the hoses do a right-angled turn where they exit the end of the lever. I'm guessing this is normal for brakes set up US-style, ie with the front lever on the left, but we do things differently over here and I'd like to put the front lever on the right, and it would look much better if the hose exited the lever "in-line", as it were.
I haven't tried taking them apart or anything yet. Is the 90-degree metal "joint" multi-position? Or is there another part I need to buy?
Thanks, Bryan

I'm assuming you have the stainless steel braided hose. The connection at the lever is NOT adjustable. To get a hose that goes straight in to the lever you would need to buy the shimano black cutable hoses. They are very easy to install if you follow the directions.

If you decide to stick with the shorter right-angle hoses, don't tighten the brake levers on the bars anymore than you have to in order to prevent them from moving when you ride.
The idea is that in a crash, the short hoses might get broken by the bar twisting backwards, and if the levers can rotate on the bars under force it might prevent this.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Having checked again, it looks like the front hose would be too short to run it with a right-hand lever anyway, so either I'll have to run them the "wrong" way round - which could be interesting before I got used to them - or get the black hoses.
Be a shame to lose the steel hoses though, since aren't they supposed to provide more power? Or isn't the difference worth worrying about?

I swichted from stainless to the black ones because I didn't have a choice. I haven't noticed any differance in perfomance.
