Moab pics

I needed a break before my upcoming vacation, so it was a welcome thing indeed to get hip to the tenth first annual Replacement Festival over in Moab.

Moab. You know. That overrated place with no singletrack. That place that is too cold and snowy to ride right now.

Mo

wabb.

Naw, I wouldn't wanna go there either. It's just too mind-boggling and imagination beggaring.

And weird things happen there.

And did I mention the utter lack of singletrack?

It was a fine few days out there. Beer and rides flowed in plenty. These are just a few teaser pics. In a few weeks, if I get around to it, I'll fling up the rest.

Huge thanks to Magpie for the lead and the laughs and the 411.

Moab is my favorite place to ride .The only thing I don't like about the place is the 3.2% beer. You get sooo bloated after a few pitchers at Woody's . Oh yeah, it would be very hard for me to find work there as a Marine Mechanic. Thanx for the photos . I need to get there this year for the Fat Tire Festival .

I want to go there this year. You have an address so I can mapquest to the trailhead? I'm referring to an address to a bikeshop at the trailhead or something. Thanks

Beautiful pictures, I'm ready to go back!

What trails did you ride? I think my favorite two were Porcupine Rim and Amassa Back (before the gas company screwed it up).

mjsca07 - Check out Poison Spider Bikes, those guys are awesome. They will hook you up with a trail map and some great ride advice.

Seriously, how is any of that single track ...looks like multiple tracks to me.

That first pic made me fly out of my seat and grab my bike and phone and start booking a flight. I really wish I could get the time off to go ride that. The knee deep snow constantly is pissing me right off.

I love riding Porcupine Rim counter-clockwise and finish up with a huge Iced Mocha from Mondo Cafe (COFFEE ,Still Legal In Utah). While you are there you might want to try to stay at the Lazy Lizard Youth Hostel (dorm style or camping) I met Tons of great people to ride with while staying there(from all over the world), or try camping in all the little canyons along the Colorado River

Great Pictures.
'06 will be my 5th season in CO, and I am on 3.5 hour from Moab, and I WILL go this year!!!
no excuses, just not exactly a destination for a family vacation, as the rest of the family are not huge mtb fans. Crested Butte has been a better destination for the family, spent two out of 5 summer vacations there.

+1 to that! It's been a few years since I've been down there. I still remember the beer being almost as strong as Gatorade. Porcupine Rim and Poison Spider were both fun trails, but I have to say I missed the trees and actual soil that I'm used to here in the Rockies. If I go back, I'm taking my road bike for the slickrock.

Slickrock is a blast with a rigid bike and fat slicks!

Wow. Nice pix.
Like Richard Dreyfuss from Close Encounters, I have this urge to make mountain shapes out of mashed potatoes. "This means something. This is important. "

There's no singletrack in Moab.

There's no singletrack in Moab.

There's no singletrack in Moab.

Just keep believing that so that the folks who know better can keep enjoying it.

Nice shots Anthony!
