Specialized Pro Turbo Classic slick

Anyone use these tires? Are they a POS? Trying to find something to mount on our Trek 850s and turn them into quasi touring bikes.

I have tried the specailized turbo/s model slick. it was a road bike tire in a 26" size made for mountain bikes. This was a high performance tire ,and worked great for fast street rides. The ones I had were folding bead tires and very light . I hope this helps.

These are 26x1. I calipered my wheels and my bike came out exactly 1". Wifes bike came out at 13/16". So it will be wider than my wifes rim but same size as my rim. Is this too skinny for putting on an MTB??? I hate to buy them and they be a totally useless for us.

* anther question - what tubes do you use in these? I was looking on Performance and the MTB tubes start at 26x1.1-1.4. Most are in the range 26x1.5 - +. I don't see any tubes for a 1.0 width 26" tire.

when I ran this tire , I had 23mm wide rims , and it worked great. It depends on what type of riding you want to do . The turbo/s was a very fast , lightweight tire . Not a commuter tire by any means . you should be fine IMO. contact Specialized if you have a question on their product .

Why do you say not a commuter tire? Our plan is to use these bikes to go on the Lands End -> John O'Groats (UK) and then from the Netherlands down the Rhine into Germany. Then when I get back to the states my plan was to wear 'em out by commuting on them. I've never commuted on anything other than my Roubaix Pro so count me as a non-commuter asking stupid questions :D

What width tubes did you run?

...oh and thanks for taking the time to help me out here!

the tire I had weighed 180 grams ,I think . try using a 650c road tube.

I have them on my Homegrown now. I think they're great. Use 650C tubes.
