Bikeroom.com - Review
Ok some of you know my long history with bikeroom. 2 years or so ordering from them and some VERY solid purchases. Earlier this year I felt their customer service went downhill. In the spring I stopped purchasing from them.
They have undergone an ownership reshuffling and as promised I would make a purchase around 100$ to make sure things are good to go. Well I decided to go to 200$ and buy myself a much needed headlight. I picked the L&M solo MV.
Happily awaiting for my purchase a few days go by. I decide to email David at bikeroom and get an update. HE calls me back that day and we start chatting. HE is concerned I am wasting my money as the variable wattage won't get used as an avid trail rider he never drops the wattage down thereby leaving the benefits of the MV lost. So I decided to drop down to the regular solo. We kept talking for a bit discussed some business, fyi they are in the midst of installing new software which will keep products updated up to 10minutes. No more ordering out of stock items . Anyways after continuing the chat he talked me into the L&M Arc NimH. Signifigantly brighter.
Anyways, this should be here tommorow as he arranged a fast delivery time that could meet my needs for riding next week. Definately 2 thumbs up and it sure seems like he is turning the business around. Good to see, we need more companies like his in canada.

Thanks for this Maelstorm. The last few reports from people here seem to show that they are definitely worth a visit.

That is good to hear. I had tried to order some stuff from there last March but after 2 weeks my order still was not in the mail so I cancelled it. They had charged my credit card though. MAybe I will try again another time.

Glad to hear you had a good experience...and talk about a salesman...or maybe a weak/easily persuaded buyer. From a $166 light to a $741 light! Let us know what you think of the light.
I'd be buying more from them but my LBS has been matching or beating all of Bikeroom's prices so I've been going local.

I recently bought the Crankbrother 5050x pedals from his site and I had my order in two days. Everything was good and then a week later he called and asked if I got everything ok and if the order came fast enough. I was extremely impressed.

Not gonna happen man. 140 days was a bit to long to wait for a $400 crankset that has already been paid for. There's no way I'm going back there.
Edit: I can really see the appeal sometimes though, some stuff they just sell off so cheap. The problem is that a lot of the stuff I ordered they changed to something else, and never provided me with any receipts.

Just logged in to the new site. Hmmm. My old profile is gone, along with any record of my past purchase. They don't seem to have much stock at present, and they're missing out on some of the basics, such as non-Rock Shox forks. Maybe with the change of ownership, they have lost some of their distributors? I suppose I can send an e-mail and see if they'll special-order what I'm after...

I tried putting an order in for a couple of small items when they were switching systems. Decided to wait until after the site is up. I followed the advise on the front page and sent an email yesterday to inquire even though they don't list the stuff I want. I'll let you all know how long it takes for me to get email replied and my stuff.

They have changed distributors. The reason being simply to cut down on orders on items not in stock. This should reduce lengthy orders. I am sure they are still working out the bugs. I go there daily and more and more stuff is in place.

Well its nice to hear some positive support about bikeroom.com.
My name is patrick and I'm one of the new owners of bikeroom.
Gettocruiser, I'm really sorry to hear about how long it took to get your cranks. I know this isn't an excuse but here is a little history of what has happened with bikeroom in the last year or so.
When the site started its software system was connected to a supplier directly so that the site would have realtime inventory system. We don't usually have products in stock but rely on just in time inventory..less space to hold the products, less overhead costs less money we need to charge to cover our costs (you all know it, the ecommerce way).
Well it was to our surprise (though we knew something was up) the supplier didn't update their inventory system..so there was a domino effect.
So in a very short time (starting back in July) we started to go through many changes: we changed supplier, one of the owners wanted out to spend time with his family, search for new owners (myself) and software which was being held with patches wasn't cutting it. So as of Nov 4th, we changed to a new and better system was put in place.
The new system, isn't connected to our supplier so that means, we have to enter in 22000 products manually. But in the end, we think people will have a better shopping experience with us as the software we are currently will do more work for us, leaving us to answer the phone, keeping on top of outstanding orders and making sure products are shipped our ASAP.
If you have questions, concerns or even some suggestions feel free to emai me at patrick@bikeroom.com

Two very different shopping experience from Bikeroom:
I ordered Truvativ XC riser bar, LX shifters, and Avid brake levers on August 15th, 2005 but Bikeroom never shipped it until September 13th, 2005. During that time I called in around 10 times but couldn't leave any message b/c the message box was full. No email replies either.
Around early September, one of their reps. called in and gave me an option to switch to On-one handlebars, since they didn't have a stock for Truvativ handlebar. He specifically told me that all the spec's were the same and On-one's was more expensive than the one I had originally ordered. I said fine to that On-one handlebar option. When I got my shipment the week after, I noticed that the On-one handlebar wasn't the one that I was expecting. I wanted a XC bar not a Downhill bar. Too much of an hassle to re-ship it back and get a refund, its sitting in my basement.
After that, I ordered Shimano V-brakes from them on December 26th, 2005. On the same day of ordering, a customer rep called in and gave me an option to switch it to Tektro v-brakes, which included brake cables and housing. Because I didn't want that On-one handlebar experience to happen again, I specifically told them to email the picture of the product and that I would notify my decision through email. No response for 2-3days, even after I emailed them for picture. I call them in and they say they don't have any stock for Tektro brakes and that they would rather ship my original Shimano brakes that I ordered. I get them 4 days later.
Bottom line: I think bikeroom should improve their customer service and their shipping promises. They are really bad at responding to emails and they just call in to switch it to another order. (I asked them why, and they said "we always give customers the best deal; hmmm.. I wonder why?)

I had a friend order a set of Deore Hydro's, Rhynolites F+R package, and an XT front Der. from bikeroom a few weeks ago, the order took a week to get to him, he was very impressed with them.
