carbon XC riser bars
 

I'm looking for a set of lightweight(not stupid-light) XC low-riser bars . Have any good ideas ? I was thinking about trying the LP Composites XC riser or maybe the Yeti ARC R1 riser Please don't tell me about some cousins/ex-girlfriends/older brothers/buddies expirence is with carbon riser-bars. Does anyone have 1st hand expirence with either of these?

I really like FSA carbon bars. I have been using my current one for a year or so. Personally I am just a big FSA fan and like most of their components, especially their carbon components.

I'm surprised that you expected some kind of "real" prize for winning a Cat5 race.

Welcome to Cat 5 racing. You'll need to move up before you see sigificant paybacks.

I have FSA carbon bars and seatpost and so far have no complaints. was a bit nervious about them at first, how do they stand up to crashes? did research plus my bike guy's promise he would not set me up with something that would fail and hurt me, he's a mechanic/builder, not just a bike shop sales guy and I have had lots of experience with him, plus he was on the pro circut for awhile so he has real world experience,I trust his judgement. Just remember NOT to use any cleanser that can damage it, like citrus based stuff and as for the seatpost, no grease or antiseize or it could slip.

I'm not convinced about Carbon bars. I've twice been out with ppl who have managed to break a pair.

Once it was only a 20 minute walk back the trail head, but the other one we were a long way from nowhere.

In both cases it was possible the bars had been overtightened or otherwise damaged before hand, but I just don't want to be stuck having to limp home with some dodgy jury rigged repair.
