Hi there!
Well, today afternoon I finally received the ?#*!ng SRAM cassette that I'd waited 5 weeks instead of 3 days for and tomorrow the adapter for the front Avid Juicy 5 should arrive. Today I got to the point where I've taken my wheels off, uninstalled the grips, disconnected the vbrakes and the levers. At this point I decided to check my derailleur hanger for proper alignement and what do I see? It seems slightly bent. I tried my best to check with a straight ruler and to me it seems like it's bent inwards about 2 millimetres. Is this likely to cause any trouble? I haven't noticed any major decrease in shifting performance although over the last few months the performance of the brakes and the drivetrain took a dive. Will this slight bend be a problem when trying to tune a new derailleur? Should I look into buying a new hanger? Should I try and bend it back? I was thinking of getting an extra hanger and an extra set of pads for the Avid Juicy 5s, just in case, but it looks like I might be needing 2 hangers...
Thanks a bunch guys and expect another thread up tomorrow night about how I can't seem to get the shifter cable the right length or I can't do something on this little "project". xD Oh well, I'm determined that I shall make it and with my patience and your help () I think I'll pull through it.

PS: We're talking the replacement of shifters, R/D, cassette, chain, shifter cable, brakes, wheels, QR.

If it still shifts fine, I say go with it. Chances are your ruler measurement was not that accurate anyway.

Hmmm, I suppose I'll try it out. Gastro, you're probably right, my ruler's most likely bent as hell considering the amount of times it's been dropped, sat on and stuff.

A bent derailleur hanger may be worth putting straight. But you'll need the expensive Park tool do do the job right. You figure after 3-4 hangers the thing will pay for itself ;-)

put some thin copper plate between the hanger and frame and cut the copper to fit ... cheapest way to fix...go to home depot and get copper plates
