What is wrong with Campagnolo MTB rims?

What is the matter with Campagnolo MTB rims.I know that Campy's foray into the MTB parts business wasn't a success, but now I see rims for sale for maybe $30/set.Are they POS's?
I thinking about getting a MTB 26" rim for a road bike project with an old 5 speeded hub.The rim wouldn't have to be able to take much of a pounding-it would never be offroad.
Finally-the ads say "no steel eyelets"?Are the eyelets just the holes in the aluminum rim???Nothing to spread the spokes force out?If so do the heads of the spoked just pull thru? Thanks.Charlie
PS-The pictures don't show where the head of the spoke would sit- explains my question.
