Seeking right size
Hello,
I am 6 ft 2inch 180 lbs
32" inseam
Problem:
FS Mtn Bike I want to buy comes in 17 and 19 inch.
The 19 inch has only 1 1/2 inch room between my crotch and the bar. But there is some room there.
The seventeen has plenty of room, around 3 inches. But I'm 6' 2?All torso I guess.
The salesman says that they are discouraged from selling bikes that are less than 3 inches of room for the rider. If I crash I might get hurt he says.
Is he worried about lawsuits?
He says 17 inch is just a number and that adjustments can be made in the seat and stem so that it will fit me.
I really like the bike setup and the price, but am worried I will waste my 2,500 bucks.
Should I move on to a frame that the top bar declines and I will not have this problem or should I go with the 19 inch frame anyway despite what the bike shop says?
Or just stick with the seventeen inch and make the adjustments?
Any help on this decision would be appreciated.

get the 19", you want to be comfortable ON the bike cause that is where you ride it. Sounds like you still have plenty of standover clearance.

Does the 17" not fit you otherwise? You can always see if adjustments can be made to fit it but if the 19" fits fine it wouldn't be bad to get it. You must really be all torso since I'm 5'6'' and my inseam is 31" Basically just find whichever one fits best and feels right when you ride.
