York Water Company can suck my hairy

So I thought I'd take part of a beautiful weekend and ride one of my favorite loops around Lake Williams in York, Pa, and arrived to find that half the forest around trail #4 has been clear-cut, and almost all the great singletrack there has been destroyed. Apparently they're selling the timber to Glatfelter Industries, and they intend to log the majority of the area around Lake's William and Redman over the next few years. I'm so p!ssed I'm almost speechless.
The land is owned by the York Water Company so I don't think there's any recourse. These really are some of there greatest trails on the East Coast and it will be a shame to see them go.
Thanks for letting me vent, I wish there was more we could do.

Sucks, but it is their land.

im sorry bro. all i can say is...

THANK GOD FOR JACKSON STATE FOREST!
we are allowed to make as many trails anywhere in the 50000 acres of land. as long as we dont cut down any trees. north shore stunts are allowed. its awesome!

I empathise with you. I used to live in the general area and Lake Williams/Redman, and Rocky Ridge were my favorite places to ride! I sure do miss the fantastic trails there. Are you a member of YAMBA. I imagine they are on this, seeing as many of the trails were built, and all are maintained, by them. In case you want to contact them, here ya go:

Yea, it really sucks. First they sold some land to a developer to build homes and we lost some trails. Now they clear cut all that timber around Lake Williams. They have told the park service that they will rebuild the trails they destroyed in the clear cuts but it won't be the same.

Thanks for the info about YAMBA. I'll sign up ASAP. Hopefully the trails will be redone, but I doubt it. I was out there again and there's now signs posted around the area that's being clear cut that they're spraying chemicals around there now and to stay off.
(in retrospect, sorry about the overly-vugar subject line, but I needed to vent)

thanks again
