What is the white stuff??

Well, I awoke at 03:00hrs to a chill in the air and the smell of rain. "Ahhhhh yeaaaaaah!!! Gonna be a good ride!!" Filled the hydration pack, pound down some cowboy coffee and slip on the riding gear. Then I walk out onto the balcony and to my surprise I see something unusual and foreign to these parts, funny looking white stuff covering the hills. "Did something explode?" I thought. Then it dawned on me, we have SNOW!!! It was truly going to be an epic ride even if it was a short one due to time constraints.

For those that might know the area, this is a shot of Oat Mtn on the NorthWest end of the San Fernando Valley

Sorry no trail pics, my camera is a bit to bulky to be lugging out onto trail and the route I was taking would have ruined the camera if I bailed. I should probably invest in a cheepy camera.

No way!! You kidding?! I was running a bit late that day. I usualy get out by 02:30 so I can get back before the kids wake up. On the weekends I may do a late ride at 05:00hrs or 06:00hrs if we have no plans.

I would not call it hardcore but more a love for riding. Since I have responsibilities during the day I need to find other times to ride and since I am a morning person there is no better time. Glad ya liked the pic.

Wow, what time do you go to bed?

Something tells me you don't get your 8 hours!

Hardcore for sure! Have you ever seen anyone else on the trails at that hour?

I do not crash any harder in the dark hours then during the day but when it is dark out I usually get to chase at least one coyote. That gets fun when they run stright down the trail a few hundred yards Almost caught one once.

I do not function well with anything over 7hrs of sleep at once. Been that way all my life. Bed time is 19:00 and I get a 1 to 2 hour nap with my children during the day.

I see a few other people, mostly the same folk. One of my rides goes through cattle country and I see the ranch hands out there. As far as cyclists though, never. Other then the one time a friend of mine decided to give it a try that early. It was a funny because he showed up with his buzz from the night before still lingering. He did end up tossin' his diner though.

I am usually headed to bed at that time but I imagine it could be fun. I intend to do some night riding this year. Looking very forward to it

White stuff, I forget what green looks like

Damn, I need to come visit you. Usually at this time, I'm at my peak of booze inhaling. I'd rather be riding though, hands down!!!

I love riding in the morning where you can see the haze and all, Its very cooling when cycling uphill, its like experiencing winter without the snow ^^
