Maxxis/Kenda measurements
Hi
Does anyone know if Kenda or Maxxis measure their tyres strangely?
Just that on my Mongoose the Kendas (Blue Groove/Nevegal) are 2.35 inch and someone I know has 2.7 inch High Rollers, yet put together the tyres are the exact same width, and mine have a year's wear on them!
I also once fitted some old 2.35 Maxxis Swampthings on mine, they looked a LOT smaller than the Kendas.
Very confusing!
Also, does anybody know of a U.K distributor for Kenda tyres? Just I think mine need replacing.
Thanks

Tyre manufacturers always use different methods, as to how, I've no idea!
Try www.chainreactioncycles.com , they're pretty cheap and quick delivery.

I think tire widths are like horsepower, in how it's measured. (Like whether you're doing BHP or taking it straight off the crankshaft.) Some probably measure tread width outside knob to outside knob, while others use casing size (which is what it should be). Kenda casings I think tend to run pretty true to size; WTB tends to run pretty fat casings for the tire size; and I'm just learning about Maxxis. Guess I'll have to take the ruler to my new Minion DHR and see . . . .

Try this site. Tells you the stated tire width, then the actual tire width (tread width). Very helpful and it has a few other little facts too.
