    Looking into a Hardtail

I got my first full suspension bike last year and have been very happy with it. I had previously only had ridgid mtbbikes and bmx's. For some reason I have been looking into a hardtail and figure it would be cool too try one for a year. Today I was in the local shop checking prices and things. They had a few to choose from but I liked the Kona Shred which retails for only $899. I really like the size, price and look of the bike but something turns me off. I checked the Kona website and they state the Shred as being a dirtjumper and dont say much else about it? I do lots of trail, street, downhill and uphill riding and biking is also my main method of transportation. Confused on whether this bike will suit my style of riding? I am just looking for advise from someone who rides HT's.

Then this is probably not the bike you want. You want a regular cross country bike. It will be more suited to actual distance riding as opposed to jumping.

I ride exclusively hard tail, every now and then I get the bug for a FS but it normally passes quickly because I love my HT. I love my Fisher Paragon, it is light weight and efficient. Plus there is no rear suspension or pivot to worry about going south on you.

Sounds like you need a Bruiser . But seriously,a Norco Rival would do great, Hardrock or Rockhopper would do well too.

I would say that I would look at the p1. You have said you want to do street. Some others have suggested XC bikes, but if you are talking about street like I am thinking, then the XC bike won't do you. And you said Downhill, if you flying down at 100mphs' and hour, then p1 or p2 would be great. But test ride test ride test ride.
