    lock on grips on carbon handlebars

    anyone know if lock on grips can be used on carbon handlebars ?

    I was wondering if the additional clamping stress is OK ?

    I had this same concern when I first bought a set of carbon riser bars. I sent an email to Easton and their reply was that there isn't any concerns with lock-ons.

    I'm using lock-on grips with my LP Composites riser bars and have had no problems .

    most carbon bar have Al insert on the end for bar end..,.if not (like my CT2) use at your own risk

    I've never used lock on grips, do they slide on easy and then lock? I have carbon bars and I had a hard time putting normal grips on because they wouldn't slide easily, they definately won't move. I can't see the need to lock them on.
    When all else fails, read the directions.

    ODI lock on grips are great. I wish I would have thought about this concept years ago. It's simple and effective. If you've not seen them, do a google seach. On each end of the grip there is an aluminum clamp that connected to the grip via a ship-lap (male/female) tab. then the clamp is split with a small allen screw used to tighten the ring. As the clamp is tightened, it reduces in diameter and clamps down like your stem.

    the stresses imposed on the bars from lock on grips is alot less then that imposed by bar ends, as long as you dont go nuts on the locking bolts and over tighten them youll be fine (you should be able to get them sufficiently tight with 2 fingers using the small end of a basic L- shaped allen key, 2 or 3mm size depending on brand)
