Choosing new brake pads

I am running Hope Mono M4s and am looking for replacement pads. What are the differences between composite and sintered pads? My usual rides are trails, single track and some light downhill.

resin=softer, better braking power, wear out quicker
metallic=harder, still decent braking power, last forever
