Midwest? UGGG

Man anyone here from the mid-west? There is nothing good about being here! No hills...the trails are all getting closed around me...have to drive 2 hours to get to anything even worth putting your gloves on to ride for. It's always cold, not even any snow to have fun in right now....uggg. I need to be out west or somewhere I can get away from all these SUV drivin soccer moms talking on their cell phones while screamin at the kids in the back seat...and then almost runnin me off the road, weather it be on my bike or in my car. Sorry guys the cold weathers gettin to me here...ha ha ha ha.

Man I hope we get snow or something or hell even just give me warm weather again and some more trails here to ride.

where in SE Michigan are you from? I'm in southern MI alot, I'd love to know of some good trails. I've riden near Pontiac....trails weren't to bad.

Ya there is some descent riding in the midwest...but man it does get old having to drive two hours just to get to it.

I miss being out west...I lived in Utah for a while and worked as a mountain bike instructor for Deer Valley Ski resort. Man that was the life!! Hardly any pay but ya got to ride for 8 hours a day!

I dont mind the cold...it's just alot more fun slidding around and hittin trees in the snow, ha ha ha.

I'm from Dexter, which is 20 mins north if Ann Arbor which is basically my hometown. I go to school there. If your're in pontiac there's tons of trails in that area. First off there is Pontiac Lake Rec Area(aka PLRA) which has 3 loops and all are favs around here. There's the Potowatomi trail which is 5 mins west of me and is my home trail. It's some of the best riding in all of the midwest. Then there's highland rec area, stoney creek, addison oaks, and a few others.

Here's a link that should help
www.mmba.org

That's the webpage for the Michigan Mountain Bike Association and has listings of most of the known trails in there. If you come up here i could show you the Ann Arbor Local Loop

I am in Detroit, downtown, but I don't get to bring my mt bike with me.... what a shame.

With the cold weather and snow, is it still possible to have a decent ride?

So there's a few guys from MI on here..cool. Hey either of you ever go up to the fun promotions races up there? It's been quite a while since I've headed up there.....i don't even know if they are still putting on races up there.

I took a rode trip to Marquette.....sweeeeet! You shoulc definately check it out if you guys ever get the chance.

I hopin for at least some snow soon...at least then it will make this cold weather bareable(spelling?) for the next few months. I have a blast riding in the snow...you don't go anywhere fast so it seems like there's more trails than there actaully are.

Depending on what happens this winter maybe we could all get together for a winter ride....just grab a bunch of guys and go. Talk to ya all later.

Hey,
i did the 12 hours of pando last year which is a fun promotions gig. Fun Promo's races are ran a little faster than the tailwinds races. At the fun promo races you get your results and then leave with the Tailwinds you gotta wait what seems like a good deal of time. Right now the races are pretty much divided into an east west kind of thing. Tailwinds controls most of the eastern part of the states racing while Fun does all of the stuff out by Grand Rapids. Lots of politics in that one

I just went for a snowride yesterday. It's sweet. I did 14 miles and except for the lake and the open meadows it really wasnt all that bad, plus you get a lot more traction

How is Marquette? I've heard great things about it but i dont think i'll make it up there.

The weather totally sucks here, we had a few big snow storms at the beginning of winter, and now nothing. Everything is frozen and ice covered, and its cold.
