woo hoo, new fork
i like my magura thor, hell, i love it, it's a great fork. my friend suggested i get a rock shox lyric for the extra travel. i got a great slammin deal (direct from SRAM) so i couldn't afford NOT to buy it.
today it came in the mail. i now have a brand new rock shox lyric. i will now have 160mm of travel in the front. tomorrow i take it into the shop and put it on. i don't know if i'll be able to sleep tonight.

Christmas came early, eh? But you know the procedure, you don't have a new fork until the pictures are posted!

^^ So you have two forks? Or one fork with two legs? Or two forks with two legs equalling four forks? Or is that two forks and four tines? Or two lefties with one tine each equals two forks? Or one Lefty and one regular for three tines and two forks? My head hurts now.

^I didn't think the guy who calls Cannondales "abominations" would even consider a Lefty a fork.

No way, I want to hijack this thread! And you mods are to yellow-bellied to do anything about it!!!
Two forks for four tines...the first is a new Boxxer which was purchased for my original 2011 DH build plan and the second is a different fork for my new build plan.

Oh my god! One fork, two legs AND two crowns (which some people still call "double triple-clamp"). . . now how many forks is that?! I think my head is ready to 'splode. Where's the ibuprophen?

Our new forks came with spoons and knives that all match. Each fork has 4 tines, 8 dinner and 8 salad, opps, wrong thread.

ok, so i put the new lyrik on my bike and went for a ride. hot darn.
warning to anyone interested in getting a lyrik. before you put it on your bike, right after you take it out of the box, drain the oil and put oil in it. out of the four lyriks we've dealt with, three of them, including my new one you see in this thread, didn't have the right amount of oil in them. rock shox has a tiny QC problem there.
the fork is really amazing. i went from 140mm to 170 mm of travel, which honestly isn't all that much, but somehow, be it psychologically or not, it makes a difference. i climbed better, i descended better, i went off things easier. great fork, and i now honestly know what they mean by "plush." well worth it. it rides really well, corners well, works well all around. i'm very happy with it.
for any weight **** who care (edit: wow, they censor the british word for cigarette? the really? weight fa6s, there i said it), it did add one pound to my bike. along with the rock shox reverb seatpost i also put on today (that is the cable you see around my seatpost, my bike is now a grand total of 31.7 pounds. and i'm faster on it.

IMO, someone buying any new suspension fork ought to do just that. If not a full oil change, at the very least ensure you've got the proper volumes in.
