Need new bottom bracket for my Rocky. What size?
Hello,
My bottom bracket in my Rocky Mountain Instinct is creaking like mad. So I'm going to replace it. What size do I need?
I think it is 73mm x 113mm, but someone please confirm this for me.
On ebay, I saw a few with english type of threading instead of Italian threading. Since the bike is Canadian, I'm assuming it needs the English type?

English 73mm shell. Not sure about the spindle width, your crank determines that. PS - welcome to ISIS hell, I'd think of ditching it for a outboard bearing crank. A silver Dues would look swweeeet on your Instinct!

My rocky this year is pretty much going to be a race only bike. I just graduated from university and moved to a much smaller, and more importantly flatter town with no good trails. So my time with my mountain bike is going to be limited on weekends and probably at races. During the weekend, I'm forced to train on my Cannondale Six 13
So if I can get the creaking to stop, I think I'd be happy with the RF Turbine that came on the bike. I saw some nice 68mm FSA Platinum Pro Ti bottome brackets on ebay. Just need to find out if they come with the 73mm adapter.
Oh yeah, on my Instinct, the stock components remaining are the: crankset/BB, headset, handle bar, seatpost and seatpost collar

Oh yeah, the other option would be trying an SKF bb. They have roller bearing on the driveside, and loose balls on the non drive allowing larger bearings than the cartridges that are used in all other ISIS bbs. I think they have a 2 year warrantee so it would keep you cranking for a long time. I haven't seen any place that sells them yet, although I haven't been looking very hard. The RF ISIS on my Jake the Snake still actually spins after 10 months and a few thousand road and cross km's.
