Deore XT vs. Deore LX Shifters

I am in the process of having my road bike converted to a flat bar. My shifter choices are Deore XT or Deore LX. Is there much difference between these shifters other than the price?

In theory, XT will last longer. The precision of the shifts should be similar. You can also get Ultegra-level flat-bar shifters...

Would the Ultegra shifters work any better or differently than the XT's or LX's?
