Question to people that have broken their collarbone
Hey guys I took a pretty bad fall and my collarbone is pretty soar...I can move my arm around but it hurts quite a bit. I can't get an X-ray done till tomorrow but I was wondering if there is anything that I could do to ease the pain....and no I'm not gonna take pain killers, I try to avoid all pills when possible. Thanks!

Unfortunately no. I broke mine in the middle so there is nothing they could do for me but put me in a brace and wait for it to heal. I have also broke my arm and I can tell you the collarbone was far worse then the arm. Good luck and I hope things go well for you. God bless you.

Maybe this will help:
If it is clear that only a broken collarbone is involved, the most important treatment is to relieve pain.
To this end, the arm should be moved as little as possible. An ice pack wrapped in a towel should be applied directly to the broken collarbone. Aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), and acetaminophen (Tylenol) are effective over-the-counter pain relievers.
A homemade sling can be formed from a large handkerchief, or towel, or from the triangle bandage found in your home first aid kit. Simply fold the handkerchief, or towel, in half to form a triangle. Then fold the triangle around the forearm with one pointy end toward the elbow and the other 2 tied around the neck. The elbow should be bent and supported across the chest.
Hope it's just bruised and something sort of a break.

Like Jag said above pain relief and keeping it immobilized via a sling are about the only things you can do.
Broke mine 8 days ago, but I can assure you after the first couple of days you will really see improvement in how it feels.
Just hang in there and take it easy until the doc tells you otherwise.
Good Luck!

Yeah, don't move it too much.
I found that the least pain was when I would lay flat on my back, but then I'd get pretty bored.
I couldn't move my arm around at all when when I did mine, could be a break in a different place.
...plus I'm pretty sure I had a full AC separation to go along with it.

I haven't broken either of my Collarbones yet, but have managed to mess up my right rotator cuff twice now. Could be a seperation.

Yup...just got back from the x-ray...I actually have a 2 small fractures in my shoulder. 1 in the middle of the collarbone and a second right on my shoulder bone (sorry I can't really say what bone it is cause I'm not sure what its call but you get the gist of it right?).
Tell me about it...thats the hardest part out of all this.
