Also, its adequate to point out most of the money trial bike makers have for trial bikes goes to beefy tires, wheels and powerful brakes since they are the most important components for trials.

Just look at the diffrence from these pics. Weight with a trials bike typically ranges from 15-30 lbs. Give or take. You need a light but super strong bike. Rims are drilled (usally- See www.echobike.com) for weight, rear hyrolic rim brakes, front disk, single speed, geared very very low I run a 22/18 ratio.
Look at the diffrences in gear set up, frame design, and stems. You can prolly figgure it out.

Yeah. Haha. When I do trials I run 22-16 and I find it doesn't have enough power.

I rode a monty trials bike once about 10 years ago. It was so fun, like a bmx bike, but with awesome brakes.

22/16 lol, I ran that ratio for a while, but when I was in really tight spots I found I would dab to get enough energy and get myself up and out.
I change my gear ratios all the time depending on where and what I'm riding on. Grass and Mud I need a higher ratio, pavement and hard ground, I stick with my 22/18

You should get another Monty. There is nothing like the sound of Hydrolic Rim Brakes... Gets me all ansy and stuff just thinking about it.

Well, I use that gear ratio because my bike is huge. It's about twice the weight of most trials bikes, and a lot bigger .
