Shimano pedal differences 505 vs M540?

It is hard to get info when comparing between a Shimano 505 and an M540 pedal. the 505's seem to be worth very little on Ebay. Is the design or materials basically the same?

The 540's are one of the lightest pedals shimano makes... although i bet the difference is probably only 30 or 40 grams or so.

Look into the 520's. Great pedals and not too heavy. That's if your even considering the 505's
