where to buy a truvativ hussefelt xc left crank arm

Hey I recently broke my truvativ hussefelt xc left crank. As I was removing my pedal the thread inside the crank come out with the pedal. So now I was thinking my best bet was to purchase a new left crank arm, but the problem is I dont know of any sites which sell them. So if anybody can help me out please let me know. Thanks

Umm, Hussefelt isn't exactly an xc crank. That being said, this problem has occured in the past with their hussefelt cranks. They "fixed" the problem for 06 by simply drilling a small hole between the threads where the pedal thread inserts thread into the cranks and placing a pin in the hole so that the inserts could not unthread. You could do this yourself, or you could get some kind of JBweld or super strong locktight and put that in the threads. Let it sit for a day or to and try to take the pedal out again.

Ask Truvativ, a Truvativ dealer or your own LBS?

EMAIL TRUVATIV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And its not an XC crank, just because your bike is XC doesn't mean every part on it will be XC.

Hmm, did you tell them if you could BUY a replacement left crank arm from them? I'm sure they would provide replacement parts, maybe they thought you wanted them to replace the crank arm free of charge.

Ask around your local bike shops, maybe they can help you.

Yeah I'm having problems with my Truvativ crank too, I feel like replacing it and the BB with something nice from Race Face or FSA but I won't until I absolutely have to.

This sounds like Truvativ through and through. Hussefelts have been a problem since the day they were conceived I think. The first ones were all-aluminum (no inserts). One stripped out on my son from pure brute pedal force. I thought the steel inserts would cure it.; evidently not.

Try calling Truvativ again, only ask specifically for Dillon Clapp. He is a tremendous guy and very helpful. If he won't change it out for you outright, see if he'll let you warranty-upgrade for little $ to Holzfellers. Dillon will work hard to keep you happy . . . and he's higher up in the Truvativ food-chain now than when I dealt with him; so he has the authority to make it right.

Poop. Sorry to steer you wrong. Dang, I just saw a pict of him in Mountain Bike Action not too long ago (I thought) still there. Well, that's typical of the industry - - especially in a takeover/conglomerate situation like that.

Try calling back and asking for the manager of customer support. If you can get farther up the food-chain than the intern-on-the-phone and explain your case, you might get somewhere. Be polite but firm and offer a solution that lets them save face (warranty upgrade or . . . ?)
