And I thought weight wasn't THAT important...
I'm almost tempted to become a weight weenie after riding a Trek Elite 9.8 yesterday, I mean, the components weren't all that great (I think its very old) but the bike was very light, so light in fact, bunnyhopping and all other variations of hopping became so easy and its like I could go higher with less effort than on my Rockhopper, I mean the bike was extremely easy to just "throw" around, god it was amazing, I know that from now on, I'm going to care just a tad bit more about weight than before when performing upgrades on my Rockhopper... I mean seriously, if I could bunnyhop like that on a Elite 9.8 that wasn't extremly light, I can't imagine how a 16lbs trial mod bike will FLY.

yeah dude, Trials bikes kick arse. Although, you can still get some good height on heavier bikes. I can bunnyhop nearly 26 inches on my bruiser. I'm not sure about the weight, but I think it's between 35-40 pounds.

My Santa Cruz Juliana weighs 23 pounds, switching to that from a 33 lb Cannondale was amazing. As a girl, the weight of a bike is an important part of the fit. I went from a bike that was MORE than a quarter of my bodyweight to one that is LESS than a quarter of my body weight. Made a big difference on how I handle the bike. LESS IS MORE

complain, complain, complain. If it's heavier all you have to do is pedal harder.

Weird thing is, when I first got my trek 930. I weighed it in at roughly 23-26 lbs. It felt really light to me, and I always thought the lightness was going to be detrimental to my ride. I was always thinking something was going to break underneath me.
Also, why are you guys using rhs for freaking trials? they are xc hardtails, geeze!

I'm not complaining about my Rockhopper, I'm just saying that I thought weight was not so important and that I will take lighter parts into consideration for the next upgrades on it. I'm very happy with my bike and I'm glad I began trials on a 30lbs hardtail and not a fancy 16lbs trials mod bike.
