Coiler + Pike = BIG FUN!

I posted in the riding thread that I swapped the 66VF off of my 2005 Coiler Dee-Lux for a Pike 454 Dual Air. Well I did the swap earlier this week and the difference is amazing! The bike is about 2lbs lighter and the front end is almost 60mm lower so it climbs better, handles the tight and twisty stuff better, and descends just as well as it did before. The bike is even more fun to ride than it was before!

Here are a couple of pics after a ride out in the mountains earlier this week:

Here's what the bike looked like when I got it earlier this year...you can really notice the extra length of the fork (and the taller front end):

I've got a few more changes planned and they should make the bike even more fun to ride! I'll update the post when I make more changes.

Holy shiznit, you brought down the front end by 60mm with only an inch or so reduction of travel? The Pike actually looks made for that Coiler, it's looking really good.

Yeah, the front end came down by 57mm but I only lost 10mm of travel. And I haven't noticed the difference in travel yet. Plus the Pike is a lot more tuneable than the 66vf.

Damn that is really good, sounds a lot like the 40mm reduction of height from '05 to '06 66s.
Time to update the picture in your signature.

Actually it was a 30 mm reduction in overall fork length.
