    I fear i made a blunder

    Got some new tires today. Continental Gravity 2.3's on the advice of a guy at my LBS that ran them for a while and liked them.



    I see there are 2 versions. A $20 one and a $50 one. Turns out one is kevlar beaded, one isnt. I got the non kevlar version and im wondering if i made a mistake.

    Anyone have experience with these tires?

    Kevlar is generally just lighter than a steel/wire beaded tire. If you're after the ride quality and traction characteristics, a kevlar bead won't matter.

    The wire version has 84 tpi as opposed to 180 tpi on the kevlar version, according to the Continental web site. Again, the main difference here would be weight, though the 84 tpi version might not be as strong (but if it gets damaged, just buy another---you'll still have saved $10).

    I run Vertical and Diesel tyres on both of my rigs and have no complaints. They are the non kevlar versions, and they take some abuse when I ride them. I will try some gravitys out next time I change tyres.

    Went on 16 mile ride (2x 8 mile loops) with the guys from my LBS today. Tires were outstanding, couldnt be happier.

    I just never knew what the advantage of kevlar was, cheers.
