Whats up people? Truvativ Blaze Cranks.
Hello,
I'm upgradiing my cranks from Sugino to Truvativ. I bend 2 rings in a crash and now need new cranks. I have a 04 GT Avalanche 2.0 and noticed all the 05 and newer bikes mostly use Truvativ Cranksets. I plan on getting a new bike at the end of the summer or wait to next spring.I'm looking at a Specialized Stumpjumper FSR comp. Killer bike and I really like the full suspension. It also comes with Truvativ cranks but the Stylo external bearings. They are very sweet.
So After a few conversations with some bike techs, they all agree the Blaze 175mm with a ISIS bottom bearing is the way to go on my current bike. What do you guys think about that upgrade and Truvativ cranks in general? I do mostly XC type riding, nothing hard or abusive to the bike or myself. I'm 36 years old and like to ride about 10 to 20 miles per ride. Alot of good local trials that are up and down hill, lots of twists and turns and plenty of fun. I also do a canal trial for a 20 + mile burn thats flat.

I don't think it's about the price but about the quality of my bike and it's other components. I don't plan on keeping it forever and want to upgrade soon so getting into a nice crankset would be my goal.

Are you going to have a third ring or bash guard on it? I can recommend other cranks if you're planning on putting a bash guard on.

No I;m not planning on it but would like to hear your suggestions. Trivativ is whats been told is the best cranks in there price class and would be perfect for my riding style. But I would lve to hear some more opnions/suggestions. Even if the Truvativ are what you think it a good Idea, I'd like to hear it. I just started riding last summer and I'm learning alot.

Well, if you hit the 3rd ring on objects a lot, or you plainly don't use the third ring, get a bash guard crank.
