Does anyone recognize this mystery bike ??
Rigid older monster with Shimano Deore SIS group, Shimano BioPace chainrings, and Araya RM-20 alloy rims.
This thing cries out for a conversion....
Anyone have any idea what it was ??
Components and build are identical to my old steel Trek 830 from the late 1980s but frame size is 61cm (24 inches).

That frame looks like so many from that era. However, there is one thing that you are probably aware of, it's probably an '88 or '89 bike. The rear brake is a dead giveaway. I've seen some '87 and '90 bikes with that brake, but the timeline that brake was used the most was '88 and '89.
You need to post this on the C&V forum. The folks here on MTB are great with newer stuff, but the gang over on C&V are experts with the over 25 year old MTBs. Here's another hint, focus on the lug work on that bike (upper seat tube & the stays where they meet the BB shell). That's a key. As an example, I can tell you it is NOT a Nishiki Ariel because I have one from that era with that brake and it has NO lugs.
Here's another tip, check out the back of the two derailers. Identify the two letter codes on the back of each. Go to VintageTrek.com Use their components section to look up the year and month the derailers were manufactured. If they are original, and they look like they might be, they'll narrow down the age of the bike and that will help you with the C&V gang. Sorry I don't know the exact manufacturer, but the more you narrow it down, someone over there will help.
