MTB shoe alternatives?

so i was wondering, is there any type of shoe you can use in lieu of authentic mtb shoes?

find a stiff soled skate shoe. Keen also makes some good shoes as does Merrell

I have a regular Specialized mountain bike shoe I use for mountain biking trails. When I ride in the city (family rides, commuter) I use the SixSixOne Launch shoes that I bought from PricePoint

They are SPD compatible and work well with my Crank Brothers Candy SL pedals.

any skate shoe works well for me.

For quite a while, I've just ridden in a regular pair of cross trainers. I'm sure skate shoes would be noticeably better, but these do pretty well.

Santiago, do those 661 shoes work well with both platform and clipless pedals?

I have some Circa shoes and they work great for platforms.

But I use shimano ma80s for spd clipless.

Just buy a skate shoe. They are very comfortable, keep your foot nice and padded, and look stylish.

I only run clipless pedals and they work great. I'm sure as a platform shoe you'll be better served with a regular skate shoe but I'm sure they'll work fine as the SPD portion is normally covered with part of the sole. In order to install the cleats I had to cut out that portion.

Even with the cleats in, I have no problem walking around even though the sole is a little stiff. The cleats don't really touch the ground when I walk around.
