Mountain drop bars
Are there any manufacturers that are making a mtb specific (road type) drop handle bar? Perhaps not a full drop as in the standard road bar, but more of a shallow drop? If so, can you tell me the makers and what kind of brake levers work with them and with V brakes? Thanks.

Why do you feel the need for drop bars? Are you a roadie trying to break into MTB's? Is it for aerodynamics?
I don't think there would be much benefit b/c they're pretty narrow. It'd be difficult to get good leverage and control. (IMO)

you can use a stem that drops the bars a little. i think drop bars are more for cyclocross.
*edit*and flat bars if you arent using them already*

try getting some WTB mtb drop bars. I had a pair on a bike back in the early 90's and they worked great. They gave me tons of different hand positions. Nashbar sells a little pulley that lets you use roadbike levers with vee-brakes.

Thanks all. I just like the various hand positions I get from drop bars. I ride my mtb equally on the trail and road, and don't like adjusting to two different bikes. I just change my tires and I'm set.
