Carb Loading Comon in mtnbkng?

I know its a common practice for Roadies Triatheletes and duatheletes but is it a comon practice for Mountain Bikers? Do you regualrly Carbload before a big ride?

With beer?

Seriously, depends on the rider. I think about it and will eat a little extra, but since I don't race what I do is very minor. If it works it works, if it doesn't. I stop eat a protein bar, chill on the trail and drink water until I can go again

I only did that when I raced. I pretty much do the same as Mael now. Can't go wrong with a few Guinness the night before.

If I have a race the following day I will make sure to eat good food with plenty of complex carbs, such as the obvious one pasta.. do not go in for the carb drinks or bars e.t.c Only use those on the ride itself.

If it's a normal/training ride - do not worry about it much - I trend to eat to decent anyway....

carb loading can work for any physical activity. just that most of us here are just doing it for fun and are not concerned with peak performance. carb loading properly can be burdensome

I'll eat a little more if I'm doing a big ride the next day but I don't race so it's not that big of a deal if I stop and rest for a while.
