I'm just gonna take this jump and....oops...

So I've been riding my Hoss a lot and I am now able to do the basic stuff like wheelies, stoppies, and bunnyhops, so I decide I'll try some jumps. So I go down to an elementary school by where I live and start doin little stuff like 6 inches and foot high jumps. I work my way up to like three to five foot jumps and I start havin some fun just goofin around. Here is when I realize I need to re-evaluate how high I can get on certain jumps.

So anyways, at the school the is a big mound or rock or something (its about 100x100 and 40 feet high) and I reach the other side and there is a hill that goes down ten to twenty feet and crosses a path then reaches another hill that goes down into a sandpit, that hill is about twenty to forty feet high.

So I start doin a few jumps off it, gettin a few feet of air and that gives me enough time to land on the hill about 10 feet from the lip and get on the brakes before I reach the sand. So after some jumps I go up to the top of the hill and get a fairly good run at hit, too good, I realize a foot away from the jump that Im goin way to fast but I stick with it cause I couldn't back off cause I was too close. So I jump off of the lip and wouldnt ya know it my foot comes off the peg and then I realize, Im gonna clear the hill and land in the sand goin about 30-50 km/hr thats like a 35 foot drop! So I brace myself and sure enough I land crooked but I cleared the hill, problem was that instead of me landing on my seat, I land on the frame, so Im talkin a little higher right now.

So I cleared the hill, landed in the sand, got a new voice, but I didnt crash, I somehow managed to ride it out and my bike is fine. This is just one of those experiences that while didn't result in much, it makes me kind of think before I do things, but not too hard.

Hehee. Wow, glad your okay. I have to smile at the not thinking hard before you do things. I usually see this attitude followed up somewhere down the line with the usual. "broke my collarbone" post. I don't have the guts to try that kind of jumping, so the guys who do it, my hat is off to you. If you do the same thing again, might I suggest an audition with the Vienna Boys Choir? :)

I'll take a pic of the hill as soon as I get a digital camera might be a little while though.
