Wanting to buy a Fezzari bike... good deal?
Hi, Ive been thinking about buying a Fezzari Abajo peak moutain bike from Costco. I know what your thinking "its just some cheap bike made by costco" but it is actually made by an actual bike company called fezzari, NOT costco (apparently they are not very popular though, but idk). Please let me know if this is a good deal or not. The official website says it retails for $1400, but Costco has it for $850. Here are some links to it:
Official website link: https://fezzari.com/abajopeak.htm
Costco link: https://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...v=&browse=&s=1
THANKS

To be honest, Fezzari sounds very fishy to me, however, I'm ignorant on the subject.
In any case, the bike itself doesn't look bad and it does have decent components on it, I don't know.

There is your problem. Its from costco. I don't think Costco started thier own LBS, so I would stay clear of that bike. It does have a couple of good parts, but I would try your LBS first.

Q: Where are your bikes made?
A: Fezzari bikes are European/US design and US engineering. They are manufactured in Taiwan, where almost all high-end brand bikes are built, by several manufacturers to our exacting specifications.

Interestingly worded.

here is an old thread about them
https://www.bikeforums.net/mountain-biking/103717-fezzari-bikes.html
I don't care what parts it has on it, I am not getting a dually from costco. The sizing is iffy at best . plus, you could spend a couple more hundred and get a specialized FSR XC.

SO many people have a fixed idea. Too bad.
Try it and if you like it's feel, then why not?
For example, some people like American muscle car but some are hate that sounds and go with japanese car.
It's up to you.

Yeah, but do you get free service after the purchase, like at the lbs? If not, you're better at the lbs.

To tell you the truth I dont really care where I buy it, as long as its not MADE by costco. Hell, id buy it at toys r us as long as I know that it isnt made by them! I just want people to forget the fact that it is being sold at costco. Just look at the bike itself, the parts it has, and tell me if it is worth $850 or not. Thats all. Thanks.

Yeah, people have a thing about bikes sold from places like Costco and the like and with a reason... but this Fezzari does not sound too bad for 850$.
Main concerns are the frame design and quality, the components are good for the price, by the way, the RockShox Dart is the 2007 equivalent of 2006's J forks.

if you're willing to pay $850 for a bike, why not pay $850 for a bike from an LBS where you don't need to question if it is good or not?

I love threads like this; it brings all the phobias, myths and tired mantras out of the woodwork:
"It came from _____, so it has to be suspect"
"I haven't heard of it so it must be crap."
"At the LBS you get free service" (Few can afford to anymore other than the first few months if that)
"You don't need to question the quality if it came from an LBS" (Gee, a Trek belonging to one of our regular posters became two halves recently)
To be honest, I'd never heard of it either. So I went to the web site. I read the "About" and the FAQs. I googled some comments from actual owners and an article. They sound like a conscientious company with an adequate product trying to make a name for themselves. Frames are probably made by Kinesis or one of the other big Taiwanese OEMs with a proven track record.
Since one of the other oft-repeated mantras is "FS for under $1,000 is junk," then if this is a viable product for under that, then maybe this debunks that one as well.

If you look closely, you will note quite the similarity between last year's Fezzari Abajo Peak and a KHS XC 604 with the Peak having better components in some cases. From looking at the link, I see that Fezzari changed the frame this year. Since Costco is pretty big here in the Seattle area, I have seen a number of Fezzari MTB. From my inspection, they seem to be equipped much the same as other FS MTB selling for $ 1300-1500 or so at my LBS. As is my usual advice, you should only buy online if you can fit, assemble and do basic maintenance yourself.
If I recall correctly, I think Kinesis makes the KHS frames, so I wonder if they make them for Fezzari as well.
