Manitou Minuite 2:00--Why so cheap?
I've been looking to upgrade the stock pogo-stick on my Kona Cinder Cone for a while and it seems like everywhere I look I see that Minute 2:00's are being discounted to 50% off or more. It seems like a a good fork for my frame and if I can get nice light air sprungfork for under $300, I'm all over it. I'm wondering though if the reason they're so cheap is because they're crap--anybody have any experience with this or would you go for it???
Thanks
Thanks

They are the low end manitou products. Look at the Sherman and Travis product lines, the price jumps.

I have a Manito minute and I like it for the price.
Of course it isn't as good as fox but I don't see $400 difference.

Because like all Mantious, it is an absolute peice of **** and will wind up being warrantied. Then they will send you this years model that has a completely different name but is an identical fork. I've finally realized why they change the names of their fork models as often as they do--they don't want the current product associated with the previous year's product.

If you've got your heart set on a Manitou, make sure you buy it from Performance. When it breaks, you will be able to return it for a complete refund no matter how long you've had it. Personally, I'll never touch a Manitou again. Out of a Black Platinum, another Black, and a Skareb (R7), none of them lasted over a year.
Look for a Marzocchi, they will last a long time. Rockshox Reba's are also good, but I personally can't vie for their durability. Fox's are great too, but they cost a pretty penny.

The only manitou products that I would consider would be Travis, Sherman, and for rear shocks, the 4-way Swinger, it is very very nice.

I have a friend that has 2 years on his Minute and has had good luck with it. I have about 6 mo. on my Nixon and it has held up well. Thats all I can tell about them. Our trails around here are really easy and smooth.........

Manitou forks are not junk.
There is no way they would continue to be one of the top 3 companies if they were. If you take care of your forks, they will last.

Konarider suggested to me the manitou minute, its on discount at nashbar. He seems to think only the freeride and dh forks are crummy from manitou.
