Take a witness, and pump of the volume, only when needed. If you just stand there and create a challenge, they will more than likely just dig in. If you go there and ask for a copy of the file of claim on the warranty, they have to provide or deny, and that would be the course I would take. Make sure you take copies of anything you have on this situation. Im sure you already know all this and I dont mean to sound bossy.

Best of luck with it Jason.

Yea, but it could be any of us in his shoes. I'm really interested how this comes out.

madbiker555 just gave me an idea over MSN. He said to ask for an instore credit. Then I thought for a second, and remembered that the store can order Giant, it's where my brother got his STP. Now I'm thinking about this.

Are you are on bad terms with your parent(s)? It's typical for a parent to help his/her child with these issues, and an adult can give authority to any complaints made to the bike store or Trek. You'd be surprised how much more responsive people are to an adult.

Wow, where did that come from, that looks really good, a giant trials frame, very nice styling, you should get that.

Well...It's a long story that I don't want to get into. My father left us 12 years ago and lives in florida somewhere. Havent heard from him since And my mom is very meek and doesn't know what she'd be talking about. She's very quiet.

I'm the loud one in the family. I'll get my way tomorrow.

Honestly, If my parents offered money I would take it. But since they won't and I've been dreaming about a new bike for over 3 months. Month+ of work. This week 8+ hours of heavy labor each day to earn 200 bucks. All I have is a frame, font derailer, fork, and stem Guess I should look on the bright side, maybe I'll appreciate it more

If you read this before you storm off to the lbs, consider this:

What you really want is a proper Trials bike. Your lbs has jerked you around long enough.

Don't accept a frame you don't want or can't use. Tell them (lbs) to eat the cost of the claim, and get you the frame you really want. The ball is in your court, and you have leverage.

Don't accept anything less than what you really want.

Good luck!

Just so you know this is not the way to go about it. At least not the shop that I help out at. If we had a customer come in "raising hell" with us expecting help we would quickly tell him where the next nearest dealer is and wish him luck. Even if we would continue to "try" to help him we definitely would not go out of our way.

There's an old saying, you get more flies with honey.

I'm just hoping that you haven't been going to the shop (or calling them) with the same attitude you have on here a lot of the time. If so I can see why you didn't get any special treatment from them. If that is the case they probably just wanted to get you something quick to get you out of their hair. I have a pretty good idea of how it would have been handled at our shop. Nice people with problems are treated so much better than rude people with problems.

I treated them very nicely actually. I only called twice in the two months inbetween to see if my frame was in. I asked nicely. But they gave me completely what I didn't want and didn't care. I really liked that bike shop up until now.

I'm glad to hear it. If that is the case then just go in and ask to speak to either the manager or the owner and calmly explain what is going on. If it is a decent shop they should be willing to work with you. If you go that route for a while then start considering other options. However, if they aren't willing to help you when you are being polite they probably aren't going to do jack for you if you get irate either. That is when it's time to either deal with another dealer or go directly to Trek.

Either way, I really hope someone ends up getting a frame to you that you will be happy with. Otherwise you should be able to get some money out of it on ebay or on mtbr.

I think you need to be calm but firm, and make them realise that it would be much better, and easier, for them to just get your the right frame (that really shouldnt be difficult), then it would be for them to continue to dick you around.

They have nothing to lose and everything to gain by getting you the right frame. If the refuse, then they lose you, everyone you know, everyone they know, and anyone willing to listen to you, or your converts advice.

What, no none of the above? There are a couple of small builders that I would root for like Bruce Gordon and Bilenky (by reputation).

Has anyone else here ever ridden a Rocky Mountain? My local bike shop swears by them, but I really haven't heard much about them on this forum - just mostly stuff about Specialised or Trek or what have you

I've heard of them being called "The Original."

Reinforced by the fact they own www.bikes.com

But yeah, I've heard great things about them. When I go up to whistler in a week or two, I'll report back how my experience with the RMX goes.
