Ibex B-27 RSR??

Typical newbie looking for a bike...but I live in the flatlands. No mountains here so I will be riding on marginal paved roads and solid dirt/rock roads

Just ran across this bike when looking at hardtails and couldn't find any "independent" reviews. Thus, I am curious of your thoughts on components, the road/mountain crossover, and if there are other bikes in this category that I have just missed.

This bike would be at the extreme top-end of my price range.

Thanks in advance

I actually went to the site looking for the Alpines...likely the 450. The LBS in the area only carries KHS bikes...the Alite 500 is the best fit price wise.

The replies tell me you guys aren't sold on the B-27 concept especially the frame. The cyclocross thought is good, I just prefer the feel and look of the mountain-like bikes over roads

Thanks

I actually think the bike looks cool but that's me; but the reason I am posting is to make you think about your purchase. I think you will be better off with the cyclocross, I mean, you mentioned that there are no mountains around where you live and you live in a place which is mostly flat, don't you think that it is a better idea to buy a bike that suits the type of riding you will be doing? The mountain bike will be generally slower than a cyclo or road bike on pavement. I would hate to see you try to hang with people with roadies on a mountain bike. Just something to think about before you make that purchase.
