Lewis and Clark trail

Yesterday I broke out the old blue beast and went for a ride.Loaded the whole family up and went to Hat Rock state park out here in Oregon and started a ride that I have been planning for months. It was a ride that I really wanted the kids to be involved in.
I had put my dirt tires back on my bike and my light seat (had a springer seat on it when I was riding it back and forth to work) Made sure that the kids bikes were all ready to go and had water and snacks for everyone.I was told it was about a 7 mile ride.should be no big deal
(Sorry I did not get any pictures. We forgot the camera when we left.)
We hit the trail and immedeatly my daughter started complaining that it was to hard.she was already struggling and we hadn't even got a mile. She usually doesn't have this problem and love the riding. After the third stop she promply threw up her breakfast. So I call the wife to meat us back at the trail head and pick her up.We get there and the boys decide they really don't want to do it one of them had already drank all of his water anyway.Great.that leaves just me.swell.
I get everyone loaded into the van and I head out alone.(goona get this ride in one way or anouther)It was a great day for a ride, sunny but not hot no wind just a nice day.
I would swear that this was a old rail trail for the longest time.A bit sandy occationally but not a bad ride, just when I had settled in the trail turns to a jeep trail.cool.I guess it was alright the kids did not come with me.might have been a bit much for them.at least my daughter anyway. She is just not ready for that type of stuff.
No real hassles the rest of the trip untill I got to McNary beach park.from there there is no markings for the trail. So I winged it,went up the hill by the prison (Three Rivers State Correctional Institute)So I rode it the general direction of where I knew the trail was at and had to ride a short distance on a old railroad track.Ung that is ruff riding let me tell ya but ol blue took it fine.I on the other hand stuggled with it.
I finnally got to the meeting site.It had taken me a couple of hours and most of a bottle of water but I had made it.
There is alot more to this little known trail.I would advise anyone to ride it.I did not see one single rider on my whole adventure.I could see some tracks on the trail but they had been there for a while. It goes for about anouther 7 or 8 miles but my poor wife was stuck with 5 kids for quite some time so I needed to get back. Some day I would like to ride the whole thing.Would really love for my riding buddy (my youngest step son)to go to.
Any way that was my ride yesterday.Hope you all had a good ride too.
