Woo Hoo! - Brand Spankin' New MTB
Picked up a Gary Fisher Marlin yesterday and absolutely love it. A little background up to this year I was of the opinion that a Wal-Mart Mongoose was good enough. What could be the big deal right? It's just a bike. Well I wanted to do a road triathlon so I had an old Schwinn, again same mentality. But when I went to the LBS to buy clipless pedals and shoes I fell in love with a Trek 1000. So I bought it. Well needless to say even though it is just entry level it was a world ahead of what I had been riding (Wal-Mart POS). The Schwinn was not that bad really.
So now that I knew what a real bike felt like I was having a real hard time getting on my other bike. Just couldn't stand it. So I started researching MTB and had pretty much settled on the Fisher Wahoo. That was until this weekend when the LBS had a clearance sale, 25% off 2006 models! Only problem is they didn't have my size on the Wahoo so the guy shows me a Marlin and says you can ride this for less than the regular price of the Wahoo. Sold! The bike rides like a dream and looks like I will be able to grow with it/upgrade it pretty easily. It's a great entry level MTB!
When I got home I gave the Mongoose to my 13 year old. He'll beat the hell out of it for a year or two and it will hit the curb where it belongs.
