the sun rhyno light rims with deore hubs and avid mech brakes all set for 240 is this a good deal? will these hold up to 10 foot drops

no they won't...nice price I think...but no they won't...the hubs are weak. I don't like the rims...

No they won't that's a an aggresive XC wheelset. I like mine laced to XT disc hubs but for 10 footers no way. Avid Mechs very sweet.

Wheres that from Price point? I think I saw something like that there. I'm looking at the XT hubs with the sun ryhno lites I would rather just pay a little more and get the XT hub and the better spokes.

You can do drops on XC wheels just not ten footers. Five seems a lot more reasonable. WNCbiker you got a death wish or something? You don't just run out and jump off a drob thats the size of a house without having a clue as to what equipment to get. Hell it doesn't sound like you've pulled a four footer! What's the obsession?

no...no...no....these rims won't hold up unless you are 120pounds and super smooth. :)...Freeride parts are expensive and heavy period. I would never expect to pay less than 200$ for the front and 250 to 300 for the rear WITHOUT brakes. (keep in mind that is canadian). For 10 footers you need at least that quality.
Calm down and progress don't worry about 10 footers until you are doing them. |

I never said I could land a 5 footer on them. (I'd knock a truck rim out of true :D) I only said it was more "reasonable" The Rhynolites are good for most XC situations a good tough rim if they're built right. Mael is correct though and I'll defer to him on this one :beer:

Mael is correct though and I'll defer to him on this one :beer: I can't land them well (5footer, 10 is well beyond me for now) and knocked a number of rims out of true. I am currently building a Mavic 321d on a Tank rear hub. Total cost 320$ for a strong rear wheelset that will still go out of true and maybe even break. For the front I haven't deceided on the rim but built on a Tank 20mm for around 150 or 200$. Its a part of riding life when doing bigger drops. That price doesn't include brakes. Also on a side note. If you are doing bigger drops...have a money stash handy all the time. You WILL brake parts especially 1 - pedals 2 - rear hub / spoke / rim 3 - sometimes cranks or bb's All expensive (except pedals) so be sure you have enough money handy to replace them. 10 footers are possible on everything. Just depends if you want to land rolling away on a working part, part that needs repair immediately or hike the bike away. If you really like Sun then there are freeride options available in that brand as well. :) |

no i just say will it hold up to 10 footers because i am 200 lbs and not to smooth and to 5-7 footers so i want a srong rim
