05 66RC on a 06 P3

A friend of mine wants to put a 05 66RC on his P3, I tell him no, if you are going to do that buy the Jackel.

1. Becuase It might void the warrenty.
2. Becuase he does FR, not DJ and Street. Not that you cant FR on it.

What do you guys think?

I think he shouldn't. The 05 66's were crazy long. It's 30 mm longer than neccessary, so an 05 66 with 170 mm of travel is just as long as an 06 888 with 200 mm of travel.

Tell him to get a Z1 fork to put on it. That or get an 06 66 at 150 mm.

That's too much fork for that bike. As Jason said, it's very tall axle to crown...it's a good fit on Maelstrom's Dirtbag, but I would never put it on anything smaller than that.

Agreed...I wouldn't want something that tall on much else.

It won't "not" work...but it will be EXCEPTIONALLY slack on that bike...who knows how long the headtube would last. A-C length would be equal, on a 05 6in 66rc, to a standard 7in dc fork...thats how tall it is...(heck maybe even taller)
