The thread title says it all. Our favorit dh run was just closed off. Yes it was a so called "Out Of Bounds" trail but it was maintained better then most of the trails around. It got just a little to popular and we started getting a bunch of yahoos who had no manners and can not ride creating lines through the bushes rather then just walking past what they could not handle.

With all that being said, here is a link to some short vids of the area

Thats a bummer dbd. Don't these riders who cut the current trails down realize they are truly hurting the sport. :(

Why are some people so f'n stupid?!?!?

Sorry for the loss of your trail. :(

Well, when the trail was originaly made there were only 5 or 6 guys that rode it. We kept it well maintained and would do maintenence when it rained to make sure there was pleanty of drainage without destroying the hill side. The majority of the trail runs over flat rocks and drops so there was very little uprooting of vegitation.
Parks and Rec just turned their head then because there was realy nothing bad happening to the hill side.
Within the last year or so people started bringing other riders in that could not ride the trail they way it was designed so these so called riders started creating new lines through the bushes and such and never helping keep it clean. Then we got a few idiots (not you LostC.) that could not keep their mouths shut and started posting on the net, talking to people at shops and basicaly any where they could which brought alot of attention to the area.
Yes, you can see the trail from the freeway and it looks like shyt because of all the kooks making the trail wider every time they ride. Originaly you could not tell. So now there is no way Parks & Rec can turn their heads because of all the plublicity.
There was a point that we could have gotton the area leagalized but most freeriders a round here have no idea or just do not care about weather or not a trail is leagal and they would not give up time to try and work things out.
There are a few of us that are working on getting some land open for cyclists so we will see what happens.
Enough ranting.

sorry to see your trail closed. It's always a bummer when that happens. I'm always disheartened to hear when a few irresponsible riders end up closing down a trail permanently. Why not make an appeal to the city?
Keeping trails "secret" never seems to work. The best thing about the increasing number of riders is that mt. bikers can have a greater voice in policy as far as opening new areas to riding and keeping current ones maintained. If the "few" of you can get support from other local cyclists opening a biking area will be that much easier, or at least you'll be more persuasive to the powers that be.

It is near imposible to get the city to open up an illeagal trail. It is better to try and get an area of land opend up then build on it. Which the original builder should have done.

We didn't realy keep them secret, we just do not talk about them. If a rider or hikers see us heading off toward the trail and asks about it we tell them about it and even ask if they want to join the ride. Mostly the XC riders ask but I have only seen 2 xc riders actually ride and clear most of the trail. The hikers liked it because there is a huge bolder at the top they can sit on and watch all the carnage from the top. They would laugh, makes comments on how sick in the head we are but they loved to watch. They also liked the fact that this trail keept us off the ones they were using so there was never any conflict.
