if it meets the ansi and snell (and whatever other reqs might be new) then it'll work as designed. hopefully. more expensive helmets get you more venting, lighter weight, and better comfort. doesn't always mean it'll protect any better or worse. proper fit is the most important. better to try a helmet on in the store, rather than order one and hope it fits.
an expensive helmet with a crappy fit is far worse than a cheap helmet that fits properly.
