I realize that I should try the mechanic section but not as many people frequent that part of this site. I have my cane creek headset and I want to install it myself, never done a threadless before do I need a special press or something or can I use my snapon plastic deadblow hammer? and How the hell do you get the other one off? Pull really really hard? or do you need some kind of puller? I'm gonna cut my fork tonight and take that extra spacer out, put my disc rims on and get this puppy finished.

As far as taking it off goes, I'd take it to the bike shop. (I say this because I tried some of the homemade techniques people here suggested, and failed to get it off)

I am yet to put on my cane creek headset on my bike, but I plan on using one of the homemade headset presses above.

The second one is a bit nicer, and lessens the chance of the headset going in crooked. I've boughten the supplies for the second one, I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks pheard I think I'm going to buy that parktool. and a cassette tool while I'm at it. And to answer John Galt... I havent really noticed anything wrong with it aside from the bearings looking cheap but I have a better one so I figure I should put it on. with that tool I shall do so. I'll just cut the fork tonight and remove that spacer.

I have the cane creek one lying around from a build that I didnt finish The bearings are nice and its never been used. It's an S2

Ok, hope it works out for you. I bought the s3 model. I wanted a chris king, but couldn't justify spending 120$ on a headset when I don't have enough money to get the other parts I need

Exactly, I do what I can afford to do. And I've done alot to it in the last 2 weeks and it will serve my purpose well I think. heres the latest.
