Is it just me, or is this a ripoff?

$1300 for a stumpjumper classic:

Perhaps the components are better than I think they are, but this seems destined to failure at this price.

Too bad too, its pretty much what I'm looking for...except I want disc tabs

Looks like they came up on some old boxes in the back of their warehouse.

The components are nice, and I like the idea. My only thing is I would want a 1 1/8" threadless headset. If you check out the components the shifters and the rear derailleur sell for over $500 (together). I'm sure the steel frame and fork are worth another $500 to a lot of people out there. I don't think the price is "too" unreasonable. With that said I won't be buying one anytime soon.

Where are the Biopace chainrings? How can it be a classic without them???

I wouldn't get hung up on the price. it's for nostalgia really and I doubt specialized really cares how many they sell pricing it like that. I don't think anyone is going to buy that as a primary ride. More of a remember the good times bike.
