    Newbie Help Needed

    Hello All,

Just moved to Colorado and haven't done any biking for years. Ready to start again, but things have changed and I need help. Since it'll be my first bike I don't want to make the big inve$tment yet and plan on buying used. I'm thinking $500 is the highest I'll go. I would like suggestions on a bike that is good for light trails and is also suitable for hitting the road and just going around the neighborhood.

I appreciate any suggestions and please let me know if I can provde any more info.

    Thanks!

    Thanks

Thanks for the initial suggestions. I will check them out. I was wondering why you recommend this bike?

Also - to anyone reading this - how do you figure out what the right size bike will be for you? Is their a recommended size based on your body type or should one just go with what feels right?

    Thanks again

Either of these bikes will suit your needs according to what you stated. They are both reliable, with decent equipment levels for the price.

You need to so a bike shop about being properly fitted for your bike. They can determine the proper size for the brand you choose. Just because you need one size for a Kona for example, doesnt always mean that you will need the same size for another brand.

Both of these bikes are just under the $500 mark. You should test ride both of them before you decide which bike you want.,..it is a matter of personal preference however.

    Thanks again

I like both of the above bikes. I'm going to start looking in my area to see if I can catch a deal on either of them.

    Cheers

    welcome to Denver

I asked where you moved to in Colorado because Veloswap is less than a month away & you might be able to score a higher quality used bike for the same money. If you know what you're looking for it can be a great way to go. There are new bikes there too & you can see a HUGE variety of bikes, gear and parts in one place.

It is held at the National Western Stock Show complex on Saturday, October 28th. I'll be there all day manning the Trips for Kids booth. If anyone else is going you should stop by and say hi.

    personally, I'd get the kona.

Kona makes very strong frames, and the components are of a higher grade on the FireMountain as well.
