Anyone else have a Raleigh?

Just wondering if anyone else has the same bike and what you have done to it. Most here dont really like Raleigh but the model I have is a step up and rides just like fisher and specialized hardtails. Ive replaced some important things and will replace the RD and FD with better ones when they get worn or f'ed up on a ride. What do ya have?

I almost bought an M80 1.5 years ago. The Tektro (which feel like they are made from swiss cheese) brakes and the Manitu SIX (which felt like a pogo stick) fork put me off.... The frame and drivetrain were good though. They were the same reasons that I didn't buy a Haro V4.

I ended up picking up an Ironhorse instead.....

I have an old M30 from 1998 which was my first MTB. The geometry sucks (think roadie), but the bike is tough as nails. It's fully rigid chromo, and I beat the heck out of it. Still rides fine!

Canadian Tire mostly sells tools, car parts, home improvment stuff, outdoor gear and sells the cheapo 300 dollar EXTREME FREERIDE CHEETAH CHASER type mountain bikes, steel frames...fake shocks, like walmart, only a TAD better, becuase it has the handmade Canadian quality.

Canadian Tire, recently, I guess bought out the Canadian division of Raleigh to be sold in the CT stores. Raleigh, in Canada, went from somewhat good but not great....to downright **** on wheels. It is EXTREMLY hard to find a Raleigh in Canada with an aluminum frame...Canadian tire also did the same with Schwinn. Both were to be sold along side the original Supercycle and CCM brands.

That's what kind of store Canadian Tire is. And that's what kind of a bike Raleigh is.

I got an '05 (nos) raleigh ram3 FS...it's a little heavier than my old hardtail but makes up for it on longer rides. Sale price was $650, I added an avid bb7 front disc to it for ~$60 and it's good to go...don't have pics just yet.

Here's my 03 M50. Nothing special but it's been a good bike. It's pretty much the same now, added clipless, changed the seatpost, took off the reflectors and it's definitely not as clean, shiny and scratch-free. I'm not sure what's up with the weird seat angle but that's been fixed.

Nice bike. Its funny that people bang these bikes but they are like any other entry level bike. You just replace the componets as the break with better ones. The aluminum frames are tough as nails and Ive never seen one break. Ive seen specialized frames break, but wait they are light years better than a raleigh..right,right.lol

Heres a pic with everyhing on the bike except for my raceface handlebars. Pic was takin at a bailout(where 2 trails meet,or you can quit) section of the Alafia River trail. Im friggin hurtin.lol

Started on intermediate(North Creek), then easy(River Loop) just to get to the black diamonds(rollercoaster), then I went for the double black diamonds(moonscape). This trail rules and I hope some of you have a chance to ride it if you ever visit Florida.

That is a sexy bike.

Raleighs are solid bikes and good values. I started mountainbiking on an m60 that was eventually replaced by a steel Jamis but that bike was great. It never gave me any problems and now a friend is riding it. Still looks good and rides well. Not a cool bike but a great value overall.
