I was there yesterday giving my bike the real test on some really technical trails and some funky downhill stuff and there were alot of people there sporting some really nice hardware!

Stillwell ? There is some decent xc singletrack in there but pleeeaasse. it is a easy 4 mile loop

Look, there is plenty of ok riding scattered throughout long island, but none of it qualifies as technical or downhill. Get off of Long Island and broaden your horizons.

if you ride all the connecting trails its about 22 miles actually, Have you ridden there? I dont think anyone should hesitate. This is how I learn hehe by taking the bashing and abuse that you people dish out lol. Maybe if none of that is considered downhill or technical then I have alot of practicing to do before I look elsewhere for harder trails do you know of any places that are close to long island where I could go and see " real " trails? because stillwell loop and the greenbelt was badged some of the best riding on the east coast on trail review.

Maybe Me and my friend will see you there next saturday, although 9 is early for us lol I usually get there around 12:30-1 oclock I ride a trek 6500 with a red reba and hes got a blue trek fuel 80. we were there for about 5 hours last saturday

Again, I didn't say the trails aren't 'real'. there are 5 or 6 good spots on LI that have some good XC trails. It's real riding. And you can push yourself on any trail. It's just not technical. And there are no mountains and very few hills to speak of.

some of the best trails on the east coast? Come on now. That is ludicrous.

If you followed the appalachian mountain range from Alabama to Maine, there are probably 50 places in each state in between with better riding than LI.

It doesn't mean you can't have fun on the trails, just keep them in perspective.

I am trying to keep it in perspective man and I'm really not one to argue if I dont know what I'm talking about but I think you may have been riding on the south shore where its all flat. On the north shore of long Island its all hills. there are some 2 and 3 hundred foot hills to climb filled with rocks and roots and other obsticles I just wonder what your idea of a technical trail is? I mean its not the appalachian mountains or anything...and someone who rides in the rockies would say that the appalachian mountains are mary mountains with puppy eyes but I have ridden in colorado, california and in upstate ny as well as pa and I tell you that parts of northshore long island are as hard if not harder than some of those places. different types of challenges mind you but as hard. How do you define technical? Just asking mind you I'm not being cocky or trying to start an argument, I'm just curious and looking for good places to ride. I would like to think that were all brothers and sisters in here that help each other when we can
Oh and btw if you check here you will see that they do list the greenbelt as one of the top 100 mtb trails in north america...actually its #53 but then all of those people probably havent ridden on the trails you ride either
Oh and if you look here "Ranked as one of the best singletracks in the East," you will see that what I said is true, but then perhaps those people have never ridden where you ride either

I have ridden every trail system (I know of)on Long Island. Many times. Even the rolling hills of the north shore. There are good XC trails, let's just leave it at that.

If you have really done much riding off of Long Island, we wouldn't be having this discussion here.

well to each his own. Where do you ride most often anyway? Your location says ny? are you on long island or up state? or in the city? where do you go to ride most of the time? I'm always looking for a better place to ride. and I agree there are good xc trails in there. I still swear that you must have missed the hills though lol.

I would post a picture of me on my bike but My girlfriend has them all on her computer, I will have to ask her later to email me a couple nice bike btw.
