Shoes for clipless riding and walking
To make a long story short, a good pair of Lake shoes I had for a while are history, which were great for general walking as well as offering good clipless pedal support.
I'm trying to find a solid shoe that is mainly used for walking around a university campus, and that supports SPD compatible cleats for mountain biking. Of course, Sidi is a good shoe maker, but I'm looking for stuff more for general use than dedicated racing.
Any good recommendations or shoes to steer away from? Anyone really like or dislike Shimano or Lake shoes in general?
A couple possiblities I was looking at --
Shimano SH-MT50G shoes -- https://tinyurl.com/zhro9
Shimano SH-MT20D shoes -- https://tinyurl.com/e8vrf
Shimano sandals -- https://tinyurl.com/kbzkq
(I'm not the sandal wearing type for the most part, but there is something just plain cool about cleated sandals that makes this an exception.)
Various Lake shoes (although I need to find a LBS who sells them in town) -- https://tinyurl.com/hb5r3
PS: Any way to minimize the "tap dance" sound when you walk with SPD compatible cleats on a hard floor? Other types of cleats (Looks, Speedplays), one can buy covers for from Kool Kovers, but nobody sells any for two-bolt SPDs.

The Sandals are amazing for walking in, I could work twelve hours on my feet in them and feel great! I also road the Flint hills death ride in mine!
