Please help me pick a really good bike for the money i want to spend. Also, i live in Miami and am 5'10 290lbs. I am really wanting this to lose weight as well. Thanks guys!

a rockhopper for $350 sounds like a good deal to me. Those start at $520, so you're getting a good deal. What year is it? I'm new to the sport as well and picked up a Trek 4300 for about $350, around two months ago. I think if you ride the Rockhopper and like it, then it's a good deal. The rockhopper is better spec'd than my bike, it has a much better fork, and better front derailleur. the other stuff is just like a specialized finishing kit, whereas the bike i got had bontrager.

well i'm quite sure that a rockhopper is a great deal for $350, i don't know why nobody else has replied. I don't know what else to recommend in that price range, but if you ride the rockhopper and like it, then i would buy it. maybe you shoud change the thread title to "rockhopper for $350?"

If you're looking at a leftover 06 demonstrator (rental) Rockhopper, then the $350 price tag is about right, but still a very good deal. I paid $360 for my leftover 05 demonstrator Rockhopper one year ago. I think it was a really good deal despite the paint scratches. If you're looking at a new Rockhopper for $350, check the serial number to be sure it's not stolen. If it isn't grab it, that's a great price.
IMHO the base Rockhopper is a very stable bike/frame for the money. If I had it to do over again, I'd still buy the Rockhopper.
